The trend toward miniaturization and enhanced functionality in electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and wearables has spurred rapid advancements in printed circuit boards (PCBs) and their components. This evolution has resulted in smaller sizes, higher densities, and multilayer designs, which not only increase the technological complexity of products but also significantly heighten the demand for high-precision inspection and analysis of PCBs and their associated components. To ensure product quality and performance, critical inspection elements—such as solder integrity, circuit printing accuracy, and component installation—are increasingly reliant on advanced 3D technology rather than traditional 2D inspection methods.This project aims to implement 3D camera technology to conduct more thorough inspections of PCBs. By capturing point cloud data with the 3D camera, we can generate high-resolution color displays to visualize the data, ultimately creating a 3D representation of the product. This 3D image accurately depicts the spatial arrangement of the PCB surface and its components, allowing for precise measurements of each part's average height using specialized measurement tools. With predefined parameter constraints, the system can determine whether components are correctly installed and accurately positioned. Additionally, by analyzing variations in solder height, we can effectively assess soldering quality and identify potential issues, such as incomplete joints or cold soldering, thereby ensuring circuit integrity and operational stability.

This 3D camera-based inspection system greatly enhances the automation and accuracy of PCB inspections, enabling rapid identification of product defects while providing essential feedback for the manufacturing process. Ultimately, this leads to improved production efficiency and product quality.
