Brake Disc Screw Position Detection

Background

This project initially used mechanical equipment to assist manual assembly. However, due to the significant impact of human factors, inconsistencies in chassis positioning arose, and 2D vision systems were unable to accurately identify these discrepancies. As a result, issues such as low assembly precision and production inefficiency persisted. By integrating AI and 3D vision technology, high-precision tire assembly positioning and accurate alignment of assembly holes can be achieved.

Solution

A 3D camera generates high-quality point cloud data, capturing the brake disc's high brightness and high reflectivity. Using a high-color display, the point cloud is visualized, and a 3D image of the brake disc is generated. By outputting spatial coordinates, the system guides the robot to align the mounting holes on the wheel hub with the threaded holes on the brake disc, ensuring precise assembly.
